Mermaids

Mermaids are half women, half fish. They can be found in rivers, lakes and seas all across Felarya. They breath freely in or out the water and can even move in land, albeit very clumsily. They are often extraordinarily beautiful with alluring voices. However in Felarya the average mermaid tend to be around 100 feet in lenght... ( even longer for sea species )

Felaryan mermaids are naughty and voracious and represent the main danger for swimmers or adventurers sailing the rivers of Felarya. They use their sweet voices and some illusions spells to charm and attract their preys. Or if they are in a hurry, they can use their powerful tail to sink a ship and devour the crew falling in water. Some felaryan mermaids also possess a very longue and sticky tongue they can throw to catch a prey, much like a frog.

Mermaids and merfolks in general are extroverted beings but they speak very little of their life underwater, making the whole race quite mysterious.

River Mermaids

A smaller species of mermaids. Their size is comprised between 70 and 90 feet. River mermaids have a more ellastic tail and prefer fresh shallower waters of river tributaries.

They're fast and very agile and often catch preys stuck in the mangroves and other river vegetation. They can easily jump out of water and even climb trees on a small distance. They are also a lot less clumsy on land than other merfolks and can use their powerful tail to bounce and spring on a rapid succession.

River Mermaids are found in most places, from frigged mountain streams, and jungle rivers, to swampy channels... thus their color varies greatly depending on their location.
