Cypress is, well in no way the average dryad. In fact she proves to be the exception to many of the things that make Dryad's Dryads. For instance Cypress has never been part of the greater network of Dryads. Her location, the jungle Bowl, precludes her because there is no way for the root network to reach her. That is not to say she would join even if able though. An incident some time ago allowed her communication with another Dryad... to be frank it was a mutually undesirable exchange; ever since Cypress has no interest, even a disinterest in others of her race.

The other, and arguably most notable, difference is Cypress's diet. Which though it includes meat, rarely has humanoid or sentient beings. This is again due to her severed link, and more importantly her raising. For when she was still a seedling, she floated on the winds into the heart of the bowl; there she was cared for by the humans that dwelled there. They were ignorant to what a dryad was and thought of her as a blessing, because her presence activated the healing powers in the soil, that other places in Felarya possess. so growing up with them as family the idea that they were anything but family is unacceptable to her.

Cypress remains the heart of the Bowls ecological system, which is quite complex, interdependent, and specialized. Every living thing in the bowl has a duty purpose and role to play. Cypress acts as the brain and sole of the bowl; one might almost think of the bowl as a massive creature in some respects. She does this through the link she has with [EVERY] being in the bowl! again she contradicts the normal Dryad way. This is accomplished by focusing all of her energies into it (she can’t use much illusion or camo techniques); as well as use of a little known property of the Dyads sap. Also unique is that the link over the years have developed cross links. This happens rarely, and only with strong willed humans, but cases do exist.

The psychological implications of this are immense. Her mood and that of the entire bowl are entangled together. This makes it easy for the entire bowl to feel the same emotion at the same time, allowing for incredible highs of joy and sorrow. It also means that the whole bowl is extremely coordinated and able to respond to any threat with a precision and timing unseen in other large mammals and plants. The link is also severable. One by will of either Cypress or the other person; for any duration of time. And two if the person leaves the bowl for an extended period, as Cypress has no roots outside of the bowl, and doesn’t have the psy breadth to reach out that far, while maintaining the rest.

Cypress is a very protective and caring mother figure in the bowl. She is very easily agitated by large predators and won’t hesitate to lash out at the first sign that one of her family is in danger. Likewise she is also very warm and welcoming to those of smaller sizes or to those who approach with open arms.

(physical description)

Cypress is a large dryad despite her relative age. This is because she did not have to compete with other Felayan fauna for all that the bowls soil had to offer. For the same reason her appearance is slightly different form that of other dryads. Growing from foreign soil, her color has a bit more of a golden hue to it, and her hair has a soft blue undertone, that resembles the moon lilies that are found only in the bowl. Her eyes are still the true emerald green of most Dryads however, and her complexion would still be called radiantly green. her hands as well seem to be smoother than other dryads and not as 'wood' like. It is unknown what breed of Dryad she is, it might be said that she is a new type, however because of distinctive changes, no clear identification can be made.
