Danger: Hazardous
Sub zones: Tenebra maze
Inhabitants: abyssal slugs, shadow fishes, glophorbias, shadow dryads, night anemones, solar serpents, lightseekers, flash medusas

The trees here have foliage so thick that it plunges the whole area into perpetual darkness. When you enter this zone you wonder whether it's a forest or a cavern... The only sources of light are the glowing vegetation and some very rare and dazzling spots where sunlight manages to breach the forest canopy. Very strange creatures roam this zone and some of the basic laws of physics seem to be altered, making the fauna here especially unpredictable.

Any adventurers who wish to travel through this forest will need some means of seeing in the dark, such as night vision or infrared goggles, otherwise they won't even see what eats them...

Tenebra maze

Danger: High
Inhabitants: abyssal slugs, shadow fishes, swallower walls, darkness elementals, negative hydras

This massive temple was once a magnificient palace belonging to an ancient and powerful civilization. Since then it has been overrun by a mysterious force, and the whole place is now shrouded in an absolute and inscrutable darkness.

Unlike in Evernight forest, the darkness is not natural. It muffle sounds and nullify any source of light, magical or not. The only way to see through is to possess some sort of night vision. It also seem to have a slight resistance, giving the strange feeling you are moving underwater.

The air is incredibly hot and damp. When you enter the Tenebra temple, you could wonder if you are entering a structure or a living organism. The tortuous halls are filled with vicious swallower walls. Over time, some of them grew so much that whole parts of the temple have become alive. Some tales tell that Tenebra maze has actually a mind of its own and that the swallower walls are merely its way of feeding.

Basic laws of physics seem even more altered than in evernigh forest : in some place you can walk on the walls or ceilling and the gravity can reverse itself seemingly at random. Walls are covered by a strange black cristal, that worth easily more than diamond.

Besides the swallower walls, very dangerous creatures roam the place. The most dreaded of all would be darkness elementals. There are not many of them, but the particular environnement made them very powerful. An encounter with them is almost always fatal : a party of adventurer would just find the darkness around them suddenly beginning to solidify, then becoming fleshy, finally turning into a stomach...
