Anko

A playful and mischievous giant mermaid, Anko is a chaotic character, who loves to play pranks and is known to lie a lot. She isn't really evil but she is easily bored and loves to have fun, not caring if it's at the expense of others. Her version of "having fun" can range from the playing of dubious jokes, to gossiping and sowing discord. Anko's official job is to guard the island of the Mysterious temple that stands in the middle of Jadong lake. She finds it a boring task however, and doesn't care much about it, usually preferring to wander away. The temple has already been defiled and pillaged numerous times.

Anko's voice is beautiful and alluring. She is talkative, very curious, and will converse a lot with other creatures, even with her prey; although with them she would first make sure they can't escape. Like all mermaids, Anko can breathe underwater and is an excellent and very fast swimmer. While she can't walk on land, she can still haul herself up on to the shore, which is always very surprising and increases her reach a lot.

Anko's methods of hunting are to either to attack the treasure-hunter's ships that sail her river by shaking them and making the crew fall in to the water, or to place herself under the bridge leading to the island she guards, and open her mouth wide to show adventurers a good view of her throat, as a mean of making them unsteady. If these methods don't work then she can extend her long sticky tongue to catch her prey, like a frog. After a good meal she will just drift away on her back, floating on the surface while taking a nap, enjoying feeling her victims struggle and thrash about in her belly as she digests them.

Unlike Crisis, there is no possible hope of escape once she catches you, but thankfully Anko is also less voracious and feeds a lot on fish. Crisis and Anko know each other but they are not really friends. Crisis sees the mermaid as a bit too chaotic to be reliable. For example, she won't leave Léa alone with Anko without a very good reason.
