− | Like all female Naxyla Driders, Artemia did not start her life as one of them. Originally she was Mia Xy, a lieutenant in the High Elven armies native to the world of Balaa. Her attack unit was called to a local village where human Balaa-har mages had slaughtered all the elves living there. Amongst them was her entire family. Led by the almost legendary Captain Artemis Quel'Do, the elven army was able to totally defeat the evil mages...although casualties were high. Unbeknowest to them, a pair of Naxyla driders had been watching the entire event unfold. Wanting to know more about the politics of this world, the pair of driders ambushed a small group of the elven soldiers, which included Mia and Artemis. Although seasoned warriors, they were unprepared for the drider attack and quickly subdued. Before they were about to devour Mia, the female drider (named Yoh), experienced The Burst...the signal that this particular prey was destined to become a host mother. Gathering her up as well as the other cocooned elves, they returned to Naxyla to prepare for the upcoming "birth". Feeling that the elf captain, Artemis, would make a good initial offering of food to the newly born drider, they gave her to the newly reborn Mia, now a drider. As the memories of Artemis flooded into Mia's mind, she came across a terrible discovery: Artemis had allowed the Balaa-har mages to slaughter the village, just to give herself the opportunity to slaughter them (Artemis was deeply racist of the Balaa-har humans) and gain glory. This painful knowledge interrupted the normal personality formation in the young drider, and in essence created a flawed merge. Mia's personality remained mostly intact, but the dark parts of Artemis' mind were now permanently a part of her. Instead of getting the best parts, the trauma had caused her to get the worst. Her drider parents, horrified with their error, quickly tried to calm the young drider, but she burst out of their home and made her way to the nearest dimensional portal that led back to her homeworld. The drider pair quickly gave pursuit, knowing that in this vulnerable state she could be easily harmed.

− | When Mia returned back through the portal, she was immediately fell upon by lurking Balaa-har mages. News of the drider pair had spread quickly amongst their ranks, and they had set a trap to obtain one for their dark research. Before they could escape with their new captive, Mia's drider "parents" burst through the portal and began to valiantly fight back the mages. They defeated many of them, but in the process were mortally wounded. The knowledge of that fact that the humans might win caused the personality of Artemis to come forth, which whipped Mia into a deadly flurry. Within mere moments all the mages lay dead, slain in a blind rage under the personality of Artemis. Yoh, dying, asked that Mia return back to Naxyla and seek out her family in a nearby village. She reassured the young drider that her family would help her come to terms with her new life and learn how to balance the schism that existed in her mind. Mia agreed, and returned to the drider world.

They taught her the hunting skills that the Northern Lands of Naxyla were famous for, and helped her come to grips with her existence. Mia renamed herself Artemia, a constant reminder of darkness that lurked within her. As the centuries passed, she seldom thought about her past life and only about her new life as a drider. She also tried to control the darkness within her with the teachings of the Priestesses of Ran, a religious sect on Naxyla. Eventually to came to love hunting deeply, and she became quite adept at it. She also discovered she had a knack for weaving, a skill no doubt inspired by the brilliant clothes the elves of Balaa used to make.

In contrary, the giant naga is very curious about Artemia, especially her weaving skills, and seem eager to learn more about her "half bug" friend. Ton has tried to reason with Artemia that Crisis might be useful in finding Ran Artifact, not to mention food for their pantry, so for the time being Artemia tolerate the cheerful and rather invading giant naga. |

− | About 100 years ago, the great Contest of Courtship was occurring in the capital city of To'Pu. Since males were a rare commodity, eager females would compete for the right to court a potential mate. At this particular event, there was only 5 males and 1000 females, so the rivalry was fierce. One of those males was Ton. Artemia, reluctantly, had agreed to attend the event on the behalf of her drider family. She didn't care about the event, and made no efforts to showboat herself or standout from the crowd. This exact lack of enthusiasm caused Ton to immediately become entranced with her. During one of the final contests, which Artemia had chosen not to participate in because she was bored, Ton snuck out to meet her. Artemia, surprisingly to Ton, didn't seem impressed that a male had chosen to initiate courtship with her. This only furthered Ton's persistence, to which Artemia eventually relented. While many of the competing females cried foul upon discovering this had occurred, Ton reminded them that there were no rules stating that a male could not initiate the courtship...only rules barring the females. Eventually they grew closer and were bonded together in the Naxyla drider version of marriage, a ceremony called the Merged Destiny.

Artemia enjoys hunting in the forest, but doesn't enjoy Felarya, due to the bad reputation other non-Naxyla driders have created in this world. As of recent, she unintentionally befriended Crisis (a rather lop-sided friendship, as she doesn't like Crisis), whom seems to be eager to learn more about her "half bug" friend. Ton has tried to reason with Artemia that Crisis might be useful in finding Ran's Artifact, not to mention food for their pantry, so for the time being she has "tolerated" the giant naga.

Artemia is a Naxyla dridder, currently residing in Felarya with her mate, Ton. Like many off-world Driders, their primary goal is to locate the final piece of Ran's gift of knowledge: the 4th piece of memory silk that holds the secrets of the universe and their species. While Ton focuses on uncovering information, Artemia mostly hunts and obtains humanoids to aide in their quest for the relic...not to mention keep them fed.
Artemia did not start her life as a dridder. Originally she was Mia Xy, a lieutenant in the High Elven armies native to the world of Balaa. One day her unit became attacked by Naxyla driders who devoured most of her group. Mia was saved though, because one of the dridder sensed in her a potential host mother. After becoming a dridder, the captain Artemis who was Mia's former squad leader was offered to her as her first victim to devour. However as Artemis's memories flooded into her mind, Mia discovered a dark treason from her former captain which disturbed her so much that the merging became flawed.
Mia's personality remained mostly intact, but the dark parts of Artemis' mind were now permanently a part of her : instead of getting the best parts, the trauma had caused her to get the worst. After some tragic events involving the dark personnality of Artemis surfacing back, Mia renamed herself Artemia, a constant reminder of the part of darkness that lurks within her.
Now in Felarya, Artemia enjoys hunting in the forest, but doesn't enjoy Felarya much, due to the bad reputation other non-Naxyla driders have created in this world. As of recent, she unintentionally befriended Crisis. It's a rather one-sided friendship though, as Artemia doesn't like much Crisis and seem uneasy in her presence.
